A Message from Principal Bedley

What a fun and exciting first two days we have had at KMS! We kicked off the year together with a school-wide assembly in the gym, where students and staff were excited to welcome back Barry the Eagle and celebrate the start of another great year. We also had the chance to show off our beautiful new gym floor, a project that has transformed one of the most important gathering spaces in our school. Students learned a little about the history of our building and were reminded that they are now part of the continuing story of KMS. It was a great way to begin the year by celebrating where we have been while looking ahead to where we are going.

The second day brought even more opportunities to connect, explore, and have fun. Students spent time with their teams outside, getting to know new classmates, reconnecting with old friends, and building the relationships that make middle school such a special place. They have also been busy meeting new teachers, exploring new classes, learning their way around the building, and getting comfortable with the routines and expectations of a new school year. There has been plenty of energy, laughter, and a few “Where am I supposed to be?” moments along the way and that is exactly what the first days of school should look like! We are off to a terrific start, and we are so excited for all that this year has in store.

Important Kennett Middle School Procedures & Times

To help ensure a safe and smooth start and end to each school day, please review these important arrival and dismissal procedures.

Morning Arrival
  • School doors open at 7:20 AM. Parents/guardians who drop off their child before 7:20 AM assume responsibility for their child until the school opens.
  • Classes begin promptly at 7:35 AM. Students arriving after 7:35 AM will be marked tardy.
  • All morning traffic must enter and exit through the North Entrance, located across from Cumberland Farms. Please follow the signs and traffic lines around to the designated drop-off area next to the football field.
  • Traffic should not travel through the drive in front of Conway Intermediate School.
  • Students should not be dropped off in the parking lot, along the roadway next to the building, near the SAU office, or in the narrow section of roadway between the buildings.

End-of-Day Dismissal
  • Dismissal begins at 2:10 PM.
  • Students riding the bus will be dismissed first, followed by walkers and parent/guardian pickups.
  • Families picking up students should enter through the North Entrance, located across from Cumberland Farms, and follow the traffic signs through the parking lot to the designated pickup area next to the football field.
  • All student-athletes must be picked up by the Football Tower after games and practices.

South Entrance / Olympic Lane
  • For the safety of our students and to keep traffic moving safely, no vehicles should enter the South Entrance (Olympic Lane) before 5:00 PM.
  • The only exception is for individuals who have received prior permission from Principal Bedley.

Thank you for following these procedures and helping us keep Kennett Middle School a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for everyone!

Powerschool

Please log in to your PowerSchool account and review your contact information, making any necessary updates to ensure accuracy.

Water Bottles

Please send a water bottle with your child each day. We have bottle-filling stations located in every hallway, and we encourage students to stay hydrated throughout the school day.

PTO Meeting

A great way to get involved with our school is to join the PTO! Their first meeting of the school year is Thurdday, Sept 17th @ Tuckerman's Brewery @ 6:30pm. We are in a rebuilding year and are looking to develop a passionate and dedicated group of volunteers that put on fun events and fundraisers. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Aly McAllister at a_mcallister@sau9.org.

Welcome to KMS Drama Club & Show Choir!

We are so excited to start a Drama Club and Show Choir at KMS this year! These groups are open to students who love performing, want to try something new, or are just looking for a fun and creative way to get involved at school.
Drama Club gives students the chance to act, sing, dance, work backstage, and come together to put on a full production. We are VERY excited to announce that our first KMS Drama Club production will be Disney’s Descendants this February!
Show Choir combines singing and movement, giving students the opportunity to perform fun music as an ensemble while building confidence, musicianship, and performance skills.
Right now, we are trying to get an idea of how many students are interested! Please fill out the Google Form if your student might be interested in Drama Club, Show Choir, or both. Filling out the form does not commit your student, it just helps us start planning for an exciting first year!
We can’t wait to create something amazing with our KMS students!
